What a beautiful crowd you are! With an incredible line-up of Judges and Jon Holmes at the helm, the UK’s 5th foray into the Official World Air Guitar Territory was once again a massive ear-splitting event. Jon’s expert navigation though the gold lame body suits, bloodstained surgical gloves and baying crowd saw us through to an explosive final round (with a really really hard song!), and we can announce that as of the 6th August 2010, the UK’s Official Air Guitar Champion is: Wildthing37! |
For the 2nd year running. Though his 1st round performance was less unexpected that Midnight Moses’ abstract piece on the Air-Sitar, and Turak’s absolutely incredible performance in Super Mario persona (the best by anyone for years!), it was in the compulsory round, as is often the way, that only one Champion was able to master the last minute licks of 60 seconds of Maps by the Yeah Yeahs. |

The BBC’s Holly Walsh and Ed were also on stage joining the topless Boney Crisp, 2nd place winner Boy Named Sue, along with High Voltage Champions Mr T, Johnni Guns and 80s Hair Metal Badass Samir.
All were expertly judged by Robert Plant’s Roadie: the great Ian Shepherd, Gazz Marlow the lead guitarist from InMe, and the now ageing Zac ‘The Magnet’ Monro: the godfather of Airguitar.
